The Department of Social Policy and Intervention at Oxford of University is pleased to offer doctoral scholarships for 2018. These scholarships are open for students wishing to pursue doctoral – PhD – studies in an international and interdisciplinary center of excellence in social policy as well as social intervention and evaluation research.
The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is a multidisciplinary centre of excellence for research and teaching in social policy and the development and systematic evaluation of social interventions.
Students whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting satisfactory scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Study Subject: OISP is inviting DPhil proposals in the following broad topics: family and family policies, educational inequalities and educational policies, economic and social inequalities, poverty and social exclusion, social mobility and inequality of opportunity, labour market institutions and policies, retirement age policies, public attitudes on welfare state issues, welfare state changes in comparative perspective and the politics of social policy.
CEBI is inviting DPhil proposals in the following areas: evaluation methodology in social intervention; policy evaluation and effectiveness of policies; violence prevention, drug misuse; child mental health; antisocial behaviour in children and youth; parenting and family interventions; HIV prevention; AIDS-affected children; violence against children; cross-cultural adaptation of interventions and evidence synthesis.
Scholarship Award: For the 3-year doctoral program, University is seeking candidates for the following scholarships with an entry in October 2018:

The Barnett Scholarship: The Department is offering the Barnett Scholarship at £25,000 a year for three years (or two years for an MPhil candidate applying for two year DPhil study).
The Centenary Scholarship: The scholarship is payable at £25,000 a year for three years (or two years for an MPhil candidate applying for two year DPhil study).
The Barnett-House-Nuffield College Joint Scholarship: This is a fully funded scholarship. This means that it will fully cover your University fees and college fees for three years, and you will also be paid a maintenance grant at the same rate paid by the UK Research Councils (£14,296 in 2016-17).

Eligible Countries: Citizens of all nationalities are eligible to apply.
Entrance Requirements: The Department usually has three departmental scholarships to offer for admission each academic year

Barnett Scholarship: The scholarship is open to all students applying for a DPhil (both new students and those already in the department studying for an MSc or MPhil), and is awarded on the basis of academic merit, assessed on both the academic track record and potential.
Centenary Scholarship: The scholarship is open to all students applying for a DPhil (both new students and those already in the department studying an MSc or MPhil), and is awarded on the basis of academic merit, assessed on both the academic track record and potential.
Barnett House-Nuffield Joint Scholarship: The scholarship is open to Social Policy students only, who are applying for a DPhil (both new students and those already in the department studying for an MSc or MPhil. If there is, however, a very strong applicant for the MPhil wishing to proceed to the DPhil upon completion of the MPhil, we would be happy to consider them too). It is awarded on the basis of academic merit, assessed on both the academic track record and potential.
